Disclosure Policy
Last updated: March 2026
The short version
I only recommend things I actually like. When I earn a commission or am paid to talk about something, I tell you. Always.
Affiliate links
Some of the links on this site are affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you click through and make a purchase — at no extra cost to you. I use affiliate programs for products and services I genuinely use or would recommend to a friend.
Affiliate links may appear in blog posts, guides, and resource pages. Posts containing affiliate links are marked with a note at the top that reads: "This post contains affiliate links. I may earn a small commission at no cost to you."
The presence of an affiliate link does not influence my opinion of a product. If I don't like something, I won't recommend it — full stop.
Sponsored content
Occasionally I partner with brands to create sponsored content — blog posts, social media posts, or videos that are paid for by a brand. When content is sponsored, it will be clearly labeled as such with language like "Sponsored," "In partnership with [Brand]," or "Ad."
Even in sponsored content, I only work with brands I believe in and would stand behind independently. My editorial voice and honest opinion remain my own. I never publish sponsored content that I wouldn't otherwise write.
Gifted products
Sometimes brands send me products to try. If I write about or feature something I received for free, I'll disclose that it was gifted. Receiving a product does not guarantee coverage, and it does not influence whether my review is positive or negative.
Brand partnerships
For longer-term brand partnerships or ambassador relationships, I disclose the relationship in every piece of content created as part of that partnership, for its entire duration.
My commitment to you
I started Lyx and the City to document my real life — not to sell you things. Monetization is how I'm able to keep creating content, but it will never come at the cost of your trust. If I recommend something here, it's because I mean it.
If you ever have questions about a specific recommendation or want to know whether something is affiliated or sponsored, feel free to reach out at hello@lyxandthecity.com. I'm always happy to be transparent.
FTC compliance
This disclosure is in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's guidelines concerning the use of endorsements and testimonials in advertising (16 CFR Part 255). If you have questions about these guidelines, you can read more on the FTC's website.
