Reaching week 10 of the Great Lock In has been a challenge. The journey so far has tested my resolve, especially with the disruptions caused by three weeks of work travel. Despite the setbacks, I still have eight weeks left to make meaningful progress. This post shares my personal reflections on staying on track, regaining focus, and pushing forward with renewed motivation.

Facing Challenges Head-On
The past few weeks have been tough. Traveling for work meant inconsistent schedules, limited access to workout spaces, and difficulty maintaining my usual routines. It was easy to fall off track, both physically and financially. I missed workouts, and my budget tracking slipped as I dealt with expenses on the road.
This experience reminded me how quickly progress can stall without consistent effort. It also highlighted the importance of flexibility and self-compassion. Instead of dwelling on what I missed, I focused on what I could control moving forward.
Getting Back to Workouts with a Community-Driven Plan
One of the key steps I took to regain momentum was returning to my workouts using the Hardcore on the Floor calendar. This workout plan was created by a fellow Peloton member, which made it feel more personal and motivating. The calendar breaks down workouts day-by-day, making it easier to commit without feeling overwhelmed.
The workouts are intense but manageable, and I appreciate how the calendar mixes cardio, strength, and recovery days. This variety keeps me engaged and helps prevent burnout. Having a clear plan to follow has been crucial in rebuilding my fitness routine after the travel disruption.
Rebuilding Financial Discipline with YNAB
Alongside fitness, I needed to get back on track with my finances. The You Need A Budget (YNAB) app has been a game changer for me. It provides a clear, hands-on way to track spending, plan for upcoming expenses, and adjust my budget in real time.
After falling behind during travel, I revisited my budget categories and updated my spending goals. YNAB’s approach encourages me to assign every dollar a job, which helps reduce anxiety about money and keeps me accountable. This renewed focus on budgeting feels empowering and supports my overall goal of finishing the Great Lock In strong.

Lessons Learned and Moving Forward
Reflecting on these past 10 weeks, a few lessons stand out:
Consistency matters more than perfection. Missing a few workouts or slipping on budget tracking doesn’t erase progress. What counts is getting back on track quickly.
Community support helps sustain motivation. Using a workout calendar from a fellow Peloton member made the fitness journey feel less isolated.
Tracking progress visually keeps goals clear. Whether it’s a calendar or an app, seeing progress day-by-day encourages continued effort.
Flexibility is key during disruptions. Travel and unexpected events happen. Adapting plans rather than abandoning them keeps momentum alive.
With eight weeks left, I’m focused on building small daily habits that add up to big results. I’m committed to following the workout calendar and staying diligent with YNAB. These tools give me structure and clarity, which are essential for success.
Final Thoughts on Staying Motivated
The Great Lock In is not just about physical fitness or budgeting. It’s about developing discipline, resilience, and a mindset that embraces progress over perfection. Week 10 has reminded me that setbacks are part of the process, but they don’t define the outcome.
If you’re on this journey with me, remember that every day is a new chance to refocus. Use tools and communities that support your goals. Celebrate small wins and keep your eyes on the bigger picture. The final eight weeks are an opportunity to finish strong and prove to yourself that you can overcome challenges.
